Seminar: Multimodal Small Animal Imaging – Options and Procedures

26 January 2022 @ 17:00 18:00

This event is part of the Faculty of Medicine’s Lecture Series on Good Experimental Design.

Speaker: Prof. Dominik von Elverfeldt, Department of Radiology

Abstract: The Advanced Molecular Imaging Research Centre AMIR is a research- and freshly approved Core Facility of the Medical Faculty. Providing pre-clinical imaging of small animals it is dedicated to improving imaging technology and to service of high standard imaging for basic and translational research.

The first part of the talk will grab the opportunity to introduce AMIR, its organizational structure and the imaging modalities available. In particular, it will provide examples on which information may be retrieved from imaging beyond mere morphology.

The second part will focus on standard operation procedures spanning from contacting AMIR, via planning of the imaging study, financial issues, animal ethics applications, conduction of the experiments, and image post processing towards publication. While going through these steps of a project the talk will try to point out frequently encountered pitfalls.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, the lecture will take place as a video conference via ZOOM.
