SUMMARY:Why many researchers study autophagy without knowing: lessons from simple model systems
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Lecture Series – Pitfalls and Solutions: ‘Good Experimental Design’ from the EQUIP Program. \n\n\n\nTopic:              Why many researchers study autophagy without knowing: lessons from simple model systems               \n\n\n\nSpeaker:         Prof. Claudine Kraft\, Institute for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology \n\n\n\nTime:              Wednesday\, 27 April 2022 at 5 pm \n\n\n\nVenue:            Video conference via ZOOM \n\n\n\nAbstract:         Autophagy is the waste disposal system of a eukaryotic cell. It is an essential biological pathway that removes defective or superfluous cellular factors. Autophagy thereby promotes organismal health and longevity\, helping to combat cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. In my group we want to understand how autophagy works at the molecular level. I will introduce you to autophagy research both in yeast and mammalian cells\, and discuss advantages and disadvantages of both systems. I will highlight common pitfalls and mistakes in (autophagy) research\, and present some solutions to circumvent these.. \n\n\n\nRegistration:   The lecture will take place as a video conference via ZOOM. Participation is only possible with registration (name and e-mail address required). Please register in advance for the lecture using the following link: \n\n\n\nhttps://uni-freiburg.zoom.us/meeting/register/u50ofu-vqT4jGtdFo4zyXt–pOs-Y4G5wEZD \n\n\n\nAfter registering\, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. \n\n\n\nInformation concerning the data protection declaration of Zoom can be found here: https://rz.uni-freiburg.de/en/services/procurement/software/zoom/zoom_datenschutz-en?set_language=en \n\n\n\nBy participating in the event\, you agree to note that recording or filming of the lecture in any manner is NOT allowed. \n\n\n\nPlease find information on the current talk and the program of the Lecture Series attached. \n\n\n\nFor further details please refer to: https://www.med.uni-freiburg.de/de/forschung/Forschungsdekanat/Veranstaltungen-des-Forschungsdekanats/lecture-series-experimental \n\n\n\nPlease note also our new courses of the EQUIP (Education and Qualification of Postdocs) program for Postdocs of the Faculty of Medicine: \n\n\n\nhttps://www.med.uni-freiburg.de/de/forschung/karrierewege/equip/kurse \n\n\n\nIf you are a Postdoc of the medical faculty and wish to stay informed about specific courses\, lectures\, events\, calls and other information relevant to postdocs subscribe to our postdoc mailing list.
